The Sports and Social Club came to be in 1966.  Since that time, we have been a registered Charity providing indoor and outdoor facilities for the use of the local Parish.  

I’m sure you’ll all agree that the Social is a special place within the village with a wonderful view especially the amazing sunsets! 

Recently, we have been trying to help the club to be a hub of the community again. We’ve enjoyed seeing the return of the junior football and cricket clubs, along with the ever-present Wheaton Aston Cricket Team. We have also been proud to host other events for the community like the Beer Festival, Dog Show and regular music nights.  

However, we are only the small committee of volunteers, the resources we have means we are aware that we cannot complete the vast number of projects we desperately want to improve the space and make this an amazing place for all of us to enjoy now and into the future.  

We know there are people within the village with a lot of knowledge and skills to benefit the club who have expressed an interest in helping with projects!  

We are asking you to help us by joining in and unlocking that potential.  

Our solution is to open a WhatsApp group called “Friends of the Social” to let everyone know our plans!  If anyone would like to contribute in any way, be it with your time, materials, equipment or help with securing funding we would love to have you be a part of it! 

Some of these plans are big, BUT! there are also many small tasks too! 

So far, we have come up with:  

Currently any profits we make though the club and bar go into running costs of the club leaving little to be able to do more for the community...  

Next year we will be celebrating our 60^th anniversary. We would love to have a big celebration with the community for this, knowing that the Social is in a good place for the next generations to enjoy.
